IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE:
If you have installed a version of tipU( Earlier than version 2.0), you should uninstall it before installing this new one. If you do not, you will most certainly cause a system crash when you attempt to use tipU.

TipU is like a sticky note pad for your PalmPilot. However, with tipU each note (also called a "tip" in this document) is much more flexible! You can associate alarms with each note and turn them into scheduled reminders. When the alarm goes off, the note automatically pops up and bugs you. You can even set repeating alarms for things that you want to be reminded of periodically.

TipU is great for when you need to remember something in an hour or so and do not want to bother with the overhead of setting an alarm in the PalmPilot Datebook. Simply scribble what you need to remember and choose when you want to be reminded. tipU will sound the alarm at the appropriate time.

TipU gives you 8 different drawing tools, 7 line widths, and 39 filling patterns that you can use to compose each note on the screen. A 10-level undo function makes it easy to correct mistakes. Using the provided tools, you can draw directly on the screen, scribble, or enter text (including Chinese) using Graffiti.

TipU lets you beam bitmaps with other tipU.

Alarms can be set to go off after a specific period of time (in fixed intervals between 1 minute and 7 days), or at a specific time and date within the next 7 days(earlier than version 1.43).Version 1.44 allows you to set any date and time ahead of the current date and time.

If you need to remember more than one thing, you can also benefit from tipU. You can create multiple reminders, with different notes, and each one of them can have its own alarm settings. You can set the title of each note to remind you of its purpose. Note that the multiple-reminder functionality is only available in the registered version of tipU.

When you start tipU 1.2 or later,you will see a screen with the tip-list of all tips and a New button.You can create a new tip by taping the "New" button,or edit any exiting note by taping the title in the list.On version 1.4 and later,you can edit titles directly from the tip-list.To draw a tip,you can tap on the number before the tip's title,or tap the Edit button on the bottom-left corner.

Next, you will see a blank (if you taped the New button, of course) screen with several controls at the bottom of the screen. You can make the menu appear by taping the "Menu" button in the graffiti silk area of your Pilot.

To invoke tipU menu, simply draw soft keystroke set in tipU preferences or drag & drop the selected text on the current Application Title

Drawing:

The default tool is pen. You can scribble on the screen using your stylus. You can use the tool selection button (first button to the right of the "X") to choose other drawing tools. The available tools are (in the order they appear in the tool selection menu): line, pen, hollow square, filled square, hollow circle, filled circle, text, eraser and select.

The line, circle and square tools work as you would expect: tap on the screen, drag to extend the shape, and release to set its final size.

Text:

Using the text tool you can write on the screen using graffiti. Simply tap on the screen, and a one-line field will appear in that position. Write on the graffiti area to insert characters. If you write more than the line can hold, the field will automatically expand to more lines. All the regular text-editing commands are available including cursor movement, text selection, copying and pasting. You can change the font used for the text from the Preferences dialog.

Line width:

The line width button (to the right of the tool selection button) allows you to select different line widths. The selected line width is used for all lines, including the borders of squares and circles.

Pattern:

The pattern button (to the right of the line width button) allows you to select the pattern that will be used for all the drawing operations. The selected pattern is also used for lines and borders, so by playing with different patterns and line widths together with the line or hollow circle and square tools, you can create dotted and dashed lines and other interesting effects.

Delete:

The X button deletes the current note, asking you for confirmation before completing the operation.

Beam:

Active the menu, you can exchange the image with other tipU.

Setting the timer for the tip

To set the timer at which you want to be reminded, tap on the time setting button (to the right of the pattern button,or to the right of the Detail button in tip-list screen of version 1.42). This brings up a list from which you can select the time into the future at which you want to be reminded.

On this version,you can set alarm in the tip-list directly.Simply tap into the square before a tip's title to set alarm.

You can also choose a specific time choosing "Alarm Details" from the Image menu (tap the silk screen Menu button to activate the menu). This brings up a dialog that allows you to select a time and day within the next 7 days. This version allows you to set any date and time ahead of the current date and time.You can also set a tip to repeat from this dialog.

Notice that if the time selected is before the current time, the alarm will be set for the time you chose, on the same day but the next week, so be careful. The Alarm Details dialog shows you the actual date and time for which the alarm is set, so you can use it to check the current setting.

In the Preferences dialog, you can choose how many times you want tipU to remind you again if you do not acknowledge an alarm and the interval between those reminders.

Handling multiple tips

If you register tipU, you get the capability of creating multiple tips. To do this, click on the New Page button (little square with a star, to the left of the X button) or select "New" from the Image menu.

Each note in tipU has a default title assigned automatically, but you can set the title to help you remember the purpose of each note. To rename the current note, select "Title" from the Image menu.

You can scroll between the different notes you have created by using the arrows in the bottom right of the screen or the PalmPilot scroll buttons.

You can also go directly to any note you choose by tapping in the note indicator label (of the form X/Y, to the left of the arrows). This brings up a list of all the existing notes, and you can tap on any one of them to go to that note directly.

On tipU 1.2 and later,you can set the category and private for the current tip.To do this,Click the Details button(little square with three lines,to the right of the X button) and the details form will be displayed.Select the category from Category List and set the private attribute with the Private CheckBox.

Copy,Cut,Paste and Drag-drop function to image

On tipU 1.3 and later,you can use Copy,Cut,Paste and Drag-drop functions to image.To do that,first select the Select tool from the Tool List,then select an area with you pen.Select Copy menuitem from Edit menu,then select Paste.The selected area would be pasted to the top-left corner of the screen.Tap you pen into the selected area and move to a new position,the selected area will be draged and droped to the position where pen was up.

Add Note to Tip

On tipU 1.5 and later,you can add a note to a selected tip.To do this,tap the button on the right of the selected tip on the main Tip-List screen,and enter Edit Note screen.On version 1.52 and later,you can select "Note..." menu item from drawing screen's menu to edit note.

Pop Up tipU

On tipU 1.7 and later version, you can activate tipU at anytime, without exiting the current application. To do this, you should start tipU first,then select "Preferences..." menuitem to enable the "Enable Popup Screen" checkbox. If you want to enable the Pop-up Screen after RESET,enable the next checkbox "Auto Run After RESET". Next.select the "From" and "To" soft pen stroke properly and exit tipU. Now,at anytime,you can draw stroke from "From" area to "To" area to activate the Pop-up Screen. The default soft pen stroke is to draw stroke from MENU button to Applications button.

TipU is shareware. This means that you can try it for 30 days and see if you like it. If you find that you are frequently using tipU, then you need to pay for it to be able to legally continue using the program. If you do not register tipU after the evaluation period is over, you must delete it from your PalmPilot.

The trial version of tipU only allows you to have one reminder. When you register the program, we will give you a key which you need to enter into tipU. The key will unlock the full capabilities of tipU by enabling you to handle multiple notes simultaneously.

TipU is released as shareware. Your registration will enable us to further enhance this software.

EVPlugBase is an open platform for third-party developers to develop a Plugin for Palm OS. Plam OS is very succinct os system, but it's a little inconvenient. Many programers develop patchs for the system, some of them are based with Hack Master, a great platform for patchs, others are not. That was the internal reason that might crash the pilot.
After we finished EVEdit, a Hack extension, we find it is necessary to develop a new mechanism to the programers who want to add some of the system patch trap in their applications. We name these applications "Plugin", different with "hack".
What is lack of the Hack Master?

When we are developing EVEdit (A HackMaster extention), we feel these inconvenient deeply, so we develop EVPlugBase, to manage Plugins for Palm OS. The enhancement list below:

Supports Chinese display, Auto-detects GB/Big5, Display GB and Big5 in the same screen, 3 Chinese input methods, English system translates to Chinese system, etc. Runs fast and steady.
